The design was inspired by the opening line of Hymn 157, “We thank thee, God, for eyes to see, the beauty of the earth.” Sheila loved the countryside and her love of nature, horses and flowers is reflected in the design. Local damsons and a cluster of apples symbolise the tradition of apple growing in the area and the orchards at the family home. The wren represents Sheila's time as a 'Wren' during WW2.
