Invergowrie Parish Church Centenary

The church itself is the focal point at the heart of this design. The supporting hands suggest how it has been part of this community and cared for by the people for a hundred years, whilst the praying hands remind us of how prayer is central to church life. The candles represent lighting the path for others and showing the way through prayer and good works. The reflections symbolise how the light of Christianity spreads outwards from church to neighbourhood and beyond, like ripples in water. The caring hands turn into a flight of doves, symbolising the presence of the Holy Spirit through all we do and in all places. These rise up into the tracery where the symbols represent the 'Seven corporal works of mercy'. The barbed wire turns into a crown of thorns, which turns into an olive branch. This symbolises that, through Jesus, by embracing the message of tolerance and friendship we can achieve greater peace in the world.
